OTTO Engineering will be seeing in the New Year with an space-saving range of options for one of its most popular switches.
 
The new LP3S and LP3S-V switches are shorter versions of the LP3 switch, and provide attractive, lighted position indication for environments where reliability - and space - is crucial.
 
The LP3 has always offered precision snap-action, with smooth operation for a wide temperature range.
These new switches are around 5/8" shorter behind panel, whilst offering most of the same features of the popular LED-lit pushbutton.

Their introduction offers a new solution for designers wanting to save space whilst ensuring highly visible position indication where it really matters, especially where security and reliability are high priorities.
The LP3S

The LP3S is designed for use in grips and other applications where space is tight - in marine applications, industrial controls, and demanding commercial applications.
This new switch offers six colour choices for the LED illumination - red, green, amber, blue, deep green and white - a choice of tall or dome style buttons, a watertight seal option to the standards IP68S and IP69K, and a logic level option.
The LP3S-V

The LP3S-V is ideal for use where a secure switch is needed - offering a vandal-resistant solution for marine, off-highway, industrial control and panel applications.
It is a shorter behind-panel version of the anti-vandal standard LP3-V, offering the same case styles, circuit ratings and button types. It’s a great choice when there is limited space.
This rugged switch offers flat and domed actuator bezel shapes, a variety of button types, and both aluminium and stainless-steel cases. Like its sister switch the LP3S, it can be supplied with a watertight seal option to IP68S and IP69K, a logic level option, and LED colour choices.
It has tactile feedback, and like other LP3s, the contact area on sealed models is protected by a long-lasting silicone boot which shields against contamination.
 

These are welcome additions to the LP3, which has been a reliable momentary action switch solution for marine, medical and other commercial applications.
Momentary action switches only remain active as long as they’re activated by applying force - and return to normal when that force is removed.
